El moderno Día del Padre probablemente tiene sus raíces en los Estados Unidos – presentado como un equilibrio para el día de las madres más tradicional e histórica. Grace Clayton Oro de West Virginia, se cree que se han inspirado para celebrar padres después de una mina explotó en Monongah cercano a la vuelta del siglo matando a casi 400 hombres.
